The Oldest And Most Deadly Enemy

Beneath the Salt Plains of Utah,in the year 2012, the billionaire collector Henry Van Statten holds the last relic of
an alien race. However, his prize exhibit has different ideas about wanting to belong... When the Doctor and Rose investigate,
they discover that the Doctor's oldest and most deadly enemy is about to break free. It's a fight to the death, with Rose
caught in the middle.
Created by Terry Nation (1931-1997), his estate originally rejected the use of the Daleks in this new series after seeing
the scripts. As a result, the scripts were rewritten with an all-new alien in place of the Dalek - only for further rewrites
to take place when the terms were finally agreed.
The helmet of the "old friend" that the Doctor first stands in front of was requested in the script by Executive Producer
Julie Gardner. Originally the Doctor was to have stood in front of the Slitheen claw, but instead he reflects on the decapitated
head of an unnamed Cyberman - creatures who faced the Doctor in ten stories of the original series from 1965-1988.
Scrapped footage from the 2005 Doctor Who episode Dalek.
